Course Description
This course examines headline-grabbing frauds, the fraudsters behind them, and the resulting regulatory and societal ramifications that have unfolded in the United States over the past 25 years. Through the medium of documentaries, non-fiction movies, and educational videos students will critically analyze the psychological and behavioral dynamics of fraudsters, the governance and control characteristics of implicated business entities, and the societal impact of fraud from the perspectives of a psychologist, a forensic accountant, and a regulator. This multidisciplinary course integrates concepts from business governance and control, psychology, public policy, and ethics.
