Doctor of Audiology

Requirements for the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree are the same as those for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree, with the exception of the following:

The Au.D. requires a minimum of 50 credit hours of graduate-level course work in the areas of hearing science, audiology and communication disorders. Supplementary coursework may be needed to fulfill the knowledge and skill requirements needed for professional certification. A mandatory Auditory Doctoral Project requires a minimum of 9 credit hours of enrollment. In addition, completion of academic coursework to fulfill a minor (minimum 9 units) is required. A minimum of 12 units is required to complete the audiology clinical externship.  Therefore, a total of 80 credit hours may be required in a typical four-year Program of Study.
