Program Description
The Graduate Certificate in Financial Therapy provides financial, mental health professionals, family therapists and counselors with communication, counseling, and psychological tools to help clients overcome financial abuse, anxiety, stress, and trauma. Financial therapy is a relatively new field that combines the principles of financial planning, psychology, and behavioral finance to help individuals, couples, and families think, feel, and behave differently regarding money to achieve financial well-being. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards has recently acknowledged the need for CFP professionals to understand the behavioral aspects of money and added psychology as a financial planning knowledge topic. The graduate certificate is designed for financial and mental health professionals to meet the competencies of the Financial Therapy Association¿s CFT-1¿ credential.
