Program Description

The State of Arizona has recently created an exciting new tier of legal practitioner that will expand access to representation for people in need of legal assistance. The new Legal Paraprofessional (LP) license puts Arizona at the forefront of innovations in justice and legal practice.

Licensed LPs in Arizona may
-draft, sign, and file legal documents
-provide advice, opinions, or recommendations about legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, or strategies
-appear before certain courts or tribunals on behalf of a client
-negotiate for a client in their area of practice (Practice areas for students to choose: Family Law, Administrative Law, Limited Jurisdiction Civil, or Limited Jurisdiction Criminal)

The Legal Paraprofessional Undergraduate Certificate provides BA in Law students with streamlined access to a suite of courses that will not only meet the education and training requirements to be eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona, as determined by the Supreme Court of Arizona and the Board of Nonlawyer Legal Service Providers, but also provide the students with an additional credential showcasing their emphasis on Legal Paraprofessional coursework.
