Program Description

Welcome to the Graduate Non-Degree Pathway. Whether you are a lifelong learner eager to broaden your knowledge, a professional aiming to improve your skills, or someone thinking about a future degree, this option lets you explore graduate-level coursework to meet your unique needs. Although students in Graduate Non-Degree Seeking status are not eligible for a graduate degree or certificate, it can be a meaningful pathway to increase your readiness and eligibility to pursue a graduate degree or simply to advance your own learning.

Why Choose the Graduate Non-Degree Pathway?
Flexibility: Pick courses that match your interests while keeping your schedule manageable.
Pathway to Further Education: Apply up to 12 eligible credits earned in graduate non-degree status to a future graduate degree or up to 6 eligible credits to a future graduate certificate.
Professional Development: Choose from a variety of courses that can help you fill knowledge gaps and gain skills needed to stay competitive in your field.
Lifelong Learning: Explore subjects that interest you and enjoy the journey of continuous learning.
Optimize your Admission Potential: Take fewer graduate courses at your own pace to increase your confidence and skills in graduate-level coursework. This is an ideal pathway for potential students looking to raise their GPA for graduate admissions and meet program prerequisites.

Know Before you Go¿
(1) While the Graduate Non-Degree Pathway creates many opportunities, there are a few things you need to know before you apply.

(2) Not all graduate courses are available to non-degree seeking students. Graduate programs determine whether to allow non-degree seeking students to take their courses. Thus, we encourage you to connect with the departments offering courses you're interested in to ensure that the classes you want are available to non-degree students and are offered at the campus or location that works best for you.
(3) There are limitations regarding how many graduate credits earned in non-degree status can be applied toward a future certificate or degree. Students can apply a maximum of 12 credits earned in Graduate Non-Degree status to a graduate degree and up to 6 credits to a graduate certificate.
(4) Finally, there are satisfactory academic policies (https://grad.arizona.edu/policies/academic-policies/satisfactory-academic-progress) in place for students in Graduate Non-Degree status.
