Course Description
An investigation into the practice and theory of motion design/graphics and animation within art and independent media through screenings, labs, lectures, demos, readings, projects and project critiques. Projects are expected to be ambitious. Using techniques of digital 2D and traditional forms of animation, we will build hybrid assets and develop larger unique, in-depth animation projects. Emphasis will be on storytelling, conveying information, creative content, experimentation, critical thinking and application of the twelve principles of animation. Graduate students will build a complete a self-directed project (from concept development to post-production) and present their progress throughout the course.
