Course Description

This course examines and analyzes the social, political, and economic transformations of American society since Reconstruction. It focuses on multiple levels of society as well as the groups and individuals who comprised it. Beginning with the U.S. Constitution and founding documents, it then traces the development of civic institutions in the wider context of U.S. history, with a focus on the period since Reconstruction.
