Course Description
In this course you will explore the challenges associated with feeding, fueling, and housing the current unprecedented number of humans in the face of climate change, depletion of natural resources, and limited regeneration capabilities of the one planet we all call home. You will recognize the contributions and limitations of traditional agriculture, industrial production of fuels, and conventional housing. You will examine the innovations of modern agricultural technologies, clean energy, and sustainable building and design. In essence, combining the perspectives of a plant scientist, an energy scientist, and an urban planner, you will query possible changes at the individual to national level that will contribute towards achieving global food security, energy security, and viable urban development while respecting the health and long-term sustainability of the environment.
