Statistical analyses and the corresponding statistical software necessary to calculate and analyze data are important and marketable skills needed in a range of occupations, including research, academia, the private sector. Thus, this course is designed to provide a primer on how to analyze, interpret, and present data most commonly used in psychology using R, a free, powerful, and open-sourced statistical software that has the functionality to perform basic to advanced descriptive and inferential statistics. Because science and statistics is social, the course will additionally focus on contemporary issues and controversies in research, from critically evaluating statistical analyses in published literature to understanding ethical analytical principals (multiple working hypotheses, plagiarism, replication, & falsification).
