Course ID
041462
Course Description
The Chem-E-Car design course is an opportunity for students to engage in a rewarding, hands-on, and collaborative engineering design project. Students gain skills that are integral to success in the engineering profession. Participants will work in student-led teams to design and construct a car powered with a chemical energy source that will carry a specified load a given distance and stop. Engineering principles throughout the course include designing a budget, performing lab tests, and analyzing performance data. Participants will have the ability to compete at the annual Spring Regional and National Conferences where they will have the opportunity to travel with their teammates and compete against peers from other schools. Both Fall and Spring semesters will be structured similarly; the Fall semester will have a mock competition; the Spring semester will have the Regional and National Competition. Students from all majors welcome.
