Course Description

This class is a comprehensive overview of music therapy. We will explore the history of the field, describe the educational and professional expectations of board-certified music therapists, begin to understand the way music impacts the brain, and investigate the variety of approaches and populations that comprise the work of a music therapist. In addition to being responsible for the informational content of the course, students will continuously build their own music therapy skill set through skills check assignments, public speaking and presentation, memorized song assessment, and on-site observations.
