NSC212 - Intuitive Eating Approach to Health & Wellbeing

Nutrl Sci & Wellness, Sch of Undergraduate UA - UA General

Course Description

This course will introduce Intuitive Eating, an evidence-based framework for a non-diet approach to nutrition which is a solution and an example of a weight-inclusive approach to health. Intuitive eating is a 10-principle concept that while sometimes used interchangeably with \"mindful eating\" goes further, to include addressing diet mentality, challenging restrictive food beliefs, and honoring hunger with gentle nutrition information that is rooted in well-being verses intentional weight loss. Intuitive eating has been shown to improve health markers for a variety of health conditions, independent of weight and foster a more peaceful relationship with food and body. The course will explore ways that intuitive eating can be applied to medical nutrition therapy, counseling, nutrition coaching and how it can support one's overall personal wellness.
