NSC542 - Health Communication from a Weight Inclusive Lens

Nutrl Sci & Wellness, Sch of Graduate UA - UA General

Course Description

This course introduces health communication topics and ethics from a weight inclusive lens. Weight inclusive approaches are defined as non-weight based markers for health promotion and are rooted in health equity. It is important to use this lens when planning, developing, and disseminating health information to the public to avoid bias. In this course, students engage in a variety of activities to apply this lens to different types of media and communication methods including printed materials, social media, and public speaking. The course will also discuss health education and literacy with diversity and compassion in mind.
