Course Description

Designed to inform students about professional development planning to accommodate students at different levels of professional development readiness. Professional Development involves more than just choosing and entering industry, continuing education, or research pathway. It also includes a self-assessment of values, interests, and skills; an understanding of the steps in the professional development decision-making process; and learning the necessary transferrable skills to succeed in industry, research, or academia. Professional Development & Career Exploration in Science is structured around the framework of the National Association of Colleges and Employers Career Readiness Competencies. The NACE Career Competencies include Career & Self-Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork, & Technology.
