Course Description

This course works to develop ethical decision-making skills essential for marriage and family therapy practice through examination of professional standards, ethical dilemmas, and legal considerations. Students will explore core ethical principles, professional codes of conduct, and common ethical challenges including confidentiality, dual relationships, informed consent, and duty to warn. Family law principles are integrated throughout the course to provide crucial context for ethical decision-making, covering areas highly relevant to the practice of marriage and family therapy.
