At least 6 of these units must be from the Applied Mathematics core sequence:
Math 584 A/B - Theory -- Theoretical Foundations of Applied Mathematics)
Math 589 A/B - Algorithms -- Numerical Analysis and Algorithms of Applied Mathematics
Math 581 A/B - Methods -- Methods in Applied Mathematics
Other courses taken should not be cross-listed with a 400-level course (please check the Course Catalog).
Elective coursework can be chosen from graduate level Mathematics courses that are not co-convened with 400 level courses. It is highly recommended to discuss elective coursework plans with the Applied Math Director of Graduate Studies ahead of time.
There is no exam requirement.
One Applied Mathematics faculty Member or Affiliate Member is required to serve on the minor student's Oral Comprehensive Exam Committee. Program faculty who are also on the student's committee as representatives of the major department are eligible to play the role of minor representative as well.
