Completion of twenty-four (24) units from the following:
course: Methods of Applied Mathematics I (3)
course: Methods of Applied Mathematics II (3)
course: Theoretical Foundations of Applied Mathematics I (3)
course: Theoretical Foundations of Applied Mathematics II (3)
course: Algorithms of Applied Mathematics I (3)
course: Algorithms of Applied Mathematics II (3)
course: Case Studies in Applied Mathematics (1-3)
course: Independent Study (1-6)
Note: If the student has taken courses equivalent to some of the core courses, the requirements may be revised. The requirement of 30 total units will not, however, be reduced. The Graduate College requires that 50% of the units must be in courses for which ABC grades are given. All units must be at the 500-level or above, with the exception that up to six units of 400-level courses may be taken outside the Department of Mathematics, with prior approval from the Program Head.
Completion of six (6) or more units at the 500-level from departments outside of Mathematics. Graduate course selection is vast (from any department outside of Math) and should be made in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies.
The student must successfully complete the written Qualification process (see Sections VI and VII of student handbook) at the MS level.
