The Foundation Stage is devoted to basic design and representational skills, an introduction to history and theory of the built environment, and physical principles of the built environment. At the conclusion of the Foundation Stage, eligible students will undergo a Milestone review to be considered for advancement to the Core Stage of the program.
MILESTONE
The Milestone review certifies architectural aptitude and comprises a portfolio review and Milestone GPA calculation. Up to 90 qualified students are advanced to Core studies each year. More details on Milestone can be found on the CAPLA website or by contacting your Academic Advisor.
AND
The 2.5-year professional Core Stage emphasizes individual skills and knowledge in five major curricular areas: Studio, history and theory, design communications, building technology and practice.
