Program Description
The unique Arid Lands Resource Sciences doctoral program is aimed at addressing the complex problems of sustainability of arid lands. In addition to preparing you for specialized work in academic and non-academic settings, the Ph.D. program provides unparalleled research opportunities in areas such as international development; famine and food security; land use and policy; sustainable agriculture systems; carbon sequestration; globalization; civil conflict; and urban development, as they relate to the arid and semiarid lands of the world. Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, the University of Arizona provides a natural living laboratory for conducting research in this field.
