Doctor of Philosophy

During your doctorate in Chemistry, you will investigate topics and solve questions looming at the forefront of contemporary issues, from climate change to materials chemistry to human health. You will explore questions related to the origin of life and the nature of molecular matter and train to make, analyze and understand molecules and their chemistry. The doctorate in Chemistry is unique in its breadth, offering Ph.D. candidates considerable freedom in their studies. The degree spans the traditional disciplines of organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry, and chemical education. Research is often highly interdisciplinary with other groups and campus units.
