Program Description
The Master of Arts in Counseling program prepares professional counselors to work effectively with diverse ages and populations - including those with disabilities - with care and sensitivity. You will learn fundamentals in clinical mental health, clinical rehabilitation and school counseling and specialize in either School Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation or Clinical Mental Health. The program curriculum emphasizes leadership, advocacy, collaboration, use of data, and action. It covers research methods; diversity in patients/students and diversity in disabilities you could encounter; and ethical, legal and professional issues. Depending on your area of emphasis, the program prepares you to work in school, rehabilitation or mental health settings.
