Overview

Program Requirements

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
The course sequence required is determined by the Foundations Writing Evaluation (link).

Two course sequence:
1. Writing 101 or 101A or 107
2. Writing 102 or 108

One course sequence:
1. Writing 109H* or Writing 305
* A grade of C or higher is required in Writing 109H to satisfy the requirement with this course.

Three course sequence:
1. Writing 106
2. Writing 107**
3. Writing 108**
**Upon recommendation of the Writing Program students who complete Writing 106 may take:
- Writing 101 or 101A instead of Writing 107
- Writing 102 instead of Writing 108
Complete at least 1 of the following :
Complete 2 courses.

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 1 course. Please review your major requirements or consult your advisor before enrolling in a Foundations Mathematics course.
Earn at least 2.67 credits from the following:
AND
Credit will not be given for a course at an equivalent or lower level than prior language credit earned.
Course must be taken for a grade, not for pass/fail.
Demonstrate fourth semester proficiency in a second language by completing one of the following:
1. Complete a Fourth Semester Language Course with a grade of C or higher.
2. Complete Arabic 401 and 1 course with a grade of C of higher from Arabic 424B, 427B or 430B.
3. Pass a language proficiency examination at the fourth semester level
Complete at least 1 of the following :
Complete 1 course with a grade of C or better.

Not from: FREN 325, 373, 375, 393, 399, 399H, 414, 448, 453, HIST 465D, ITAL 330A, 330B, 330C, 330D, 399, 399H, SPAN 397W, 406A, 414, 423A, 423B, 465C, 465D, TTE 414.
Courses used to fulfill this requirement may also be used to fulfill other requirements.
Complete at least 1 courses in the following Course Sets:

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete ARB 401, Intermediate Arabic, plus one additional course from ARB 424B, 427B, 439B, 484B.
Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:

Complete one additional course with a grade of C or better from ARB 424B, 427B, 439B, 484B.
Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:

General Education Introduction and Capstone
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Introduces students admitted to the university as First-Year students to General Education, reflecting on learning, and developing an ePortfolio. (1 unit)
Earn at least 1 credits from the following:
AND
Designed to help students reflect upon and make meaning of the General Education experience through the refinement of their ePortfolio. (1 unit)
Earn at least 1 credits from the following:

Choose one course from each category.
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 1 course, 3 units total. Transfer students with quarter system credits may satisfy requirement with 1 course and 2.67 units.
Earn at least 2.67 credits from the following:

Complete 1 course, 3 units total. Transfer students with quarter system credits may satisfy requirement with 1 course and 2.67 units.

Building Connections brings together knowledge and modes of thinking from two or more disciplines and/or perspectives. Choose two courses (6 units minimum).
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 2 courses, 6 units total. Transfer students with quarter system credits may satisfy requirements with 2 courses and 5.34 units.
Earn at least 5.34 credits from the following:

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 1 course, 3 units total. Transfer students with quarter system credits may satisfy requirement with 1 course and 2.67 units.
Earn at least 2.67 credits from the following:
East Asian Studies Core
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 1 course;
Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:
AND
Complete 1 course for 2 units in Fall term of final academic year.
Earn at least 2 credits from the following:

Complete 1 course for 1 unit in final academic year (Consult Faculty Advisor)
Earn at least 1 credits from the following:

Complete 2 Courses: CRL 201 and CRL 202 in Cantonese may count toward this requirement
Complete at least 2 of the following Courses:
An emphasis is required for this major. Please consult with your advisor.

Select 1 from the following emphases: Chinese Culture Intensive, Chinese Language Intensive, East Asian Cultural Studies, Japanese Culture Intensive, or Japanese Language Intensive.

Chinese Culture Intensive
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 3 units. The following courses may each only count once toward the major: CHN 423, 440, EAS 422.
Earn at least 3 credits from the following:
AND
Complete 12 Upper Division Units of Additional Coursework.

A maximum of 3 units of Internship and/or Preceptorship may be counted toward the degree. Additionally, the following courses may each only count once toward the major: EAS 422, CHN 423, 440.
Earn at least 12 credits from the following:
AND
Complete 3 units.
Earn at least 3 credits from the following:
Chinese Culture Intensive Emphasis Major Graduation Requirements
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
A minimum of 34 units must be completed in the major.
AND
A minimum 2.0 GPA is required in the major coursework.
AND
A minimum of 18 units in the pre-major, supporting coursework, professional core, and/or major must be taken at the University of Arizona.
AND
A minimum of 18 units of upper-division major coursework must be completed.
A minor is required for this major. Consult with your advisor to select a minor or discuss other options such as selecting a second major or degree based on departmental approval.

Revised Long Description: Complete CHN 301 and 302. This requirement may be met with 6 different units if placement into higher level language course. Please consult with your major advisor.

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 9 units of additional coursework. A minimum of 6 upper division units elective units must be completed; only 3 units of lower division elective units can be counted towards the major.

A maximum of 3 units of Internship and/or Preceptorship may be counted toward the degree. Additionally, the following courses may each only count once toward the major: EAS 422, JPN 421, 422.
Earn at least 9 credits from the following:

A minimum 2.0 GPA is required in the major coursework.

East Asian Cultural Studies
Japanese Culture Intensive

Complete a total of 34 units between the 400-Level and Additional Courses.
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 3 units.

The following courses may each only count once toward the major: EAS 422, JPN 421, 422.
Earn at least 3 credits from the following:

Complete 12 units of Upper Division Electives. Additionally, the following courses may each only count once toward the major: EAS 422, JPN 421, 422. Maximum of 3 units of Internship or Preceptorship may be used.
