Program Description
The program of study for a doctorate in Geosciences follows a four-year, research-based track that explores the nature, genesis and history of Earth and its crust, and the evolution of the environment and biota at Earth's surface. The program's interdisciplinary approach to research in the geosciences means you can create a multifaceted academic strategy that incorporates myriad fields of investigation, including climate dynamics, paleolimnology, tectonics, dendrochronology and mineral resources. The Department of Geosciences has earned top U.S. News & World Report rankings - No. 2 in Geology and No. 6 in Geochemistry, to name two - among surveys of national graduate programs.
