Program Description
Geographic information science is the multidisciplinary science of applied digital mapping technology, applicable to a wide variety of industry and research careers. With GIS, developers store, visualize, analyze and interpret geographic information to answer research questions and lead industry decision-making. GIS is a high-growth field with demand across many sectors, including business, public health, navigation, climate, environmental science, urban planning, architecture, politics, agriculture, insurance, military, disaster management and crime. The program is a partnership of the School of Natural Resources and the Environment and the School of Geography, Development and Environment. You can complete this 12-month, in-person program as a stand-alone graduate certificate or to augment other graduate degrees.
