Select 2 or more courses from the following:
HWRS 517A Fundamentals of Water Quality (3 units)
HWRS 518 Fundamentals of Subsurface Hydrology (3 units)
HWRS 519 Fundamentals of Surface Water Hydrology (3 units)
HWRS 528 Fundamentals: Systems Approach to Hydrologic Modeling (3 units)
Students must consult with the Director of Graduate Studies-Hydrology to determine which core courses are most appropriate based on educational and professional experience.
Select additional course(s) to meet the 12-unit requirement. Coursework to be used in the Certificate program must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies-Hydrology prior to enrollment and completion.
Potential courses include the following (all 3-unit lecture format unless noted otherwise):
HWRS 505 Vadose Zone Hydrology
HWRS 516 Hydrologic Transport Processes
HWRS 521 Water Resources Systems, Planning, and Management
HWRS 524 Hydroclimatology
HWRS 531 Hydrogeology (4 units, 3-unit lecture and 1-unit laboratory)
HWRS 532 Environmental Hydrogeology Laboratory (3 units laboratory/advanced field study)
HWRS 535 Advanced Subsurface Hydrology
HWRS 543A Risk Assessment
HWRS 549 Statistical Hydrology
HWRS 570 Computer Simulation of Water Quality Processes
HWRS 573 Hydrology of Water Resources Management
HWRS 580 Isotope Tracers in Hydrology
HWRS 582 Groundwater Modeling
HWRS 596G Water-Rock-Microbial Processes
HWRS XXX Other newly-approved HAS graduate courses - Consult with the Director of Graduate Studies to determine eligibility
HWRS courses published in the catalog that are crosslisted with other departments (courses whose instructors reside in other departments) are not automatically approved as electives. A maximum of one three-unit non-HWRS course* may be approved for the study plan, but the number of units may not exceed 25% of the total number of units required for the Certificate. Approval is required prior to enrollment and completion.
No transfer coursework from another university may be used for the Certificate program.
Language Requirement: None
Campus: All courses are offered through the Main Campus
Online Courses: None available at this time
Non-Degree Coursework: After completion, some graduate units may be eligible for use in a degree-seeking program. Consult with the Director of Graduate Studies-Hydrology for further information.
