Program Description
Ph.D. candidates pursuing a degree in Mexican American Studies are invited to curate an individualized, interdisciplinary plan. This research-focused degree encourages you to merge areas of study such as education, immigration, gender, ethnicity and more in order to examine decolonial epistemologies, pedagogies and scholarship at the intersections of race, class, gender and sexuality. As part of a department firmly committed to training future generations of scholars whose research is rooted in social justice, the Department of Mexican American Studies collaborates with community organizations to address issues and offer knowledge that benefits historically marginalized groups in the U.S.
