Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
The course sequence required is determined by the Foundations Writing Evaluation (link).

Two course sequence:
1. Writing 101 or 101A or 107
2. Writing 102 or 108

One course sequence:
1. Writing 109H* or Writing 305
* A grade of C or higher is required in Writing 109H to satisfy the requirement with this course.

To be eligible to take the MEAR (Music Education Advisory Review) exam, a grade of C or higher is required in MUS 250. Students may take the MEAR twice. If a student does not pass the MEAR on the second attempt, the student may no longer pursue the Music Education major. Students must pass the MEAR exam to be eligible to take the following courses: MUS 371, MUS 456, MUS 457, MUS 458, MUS 459, EDP 301, SERP 400, TLS 416, and MUS 493M.
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete 3 course.
Complete at least 3 of the following Courses:

Earn at least 12 credits from the following:

Complete 1 course. Students can also take the United States and Arizona Constitution exams to pass this requirement in lieu of taking POL 210

All students enrolled in performance studies (MUSI) are required to participate in an appropriate large conducted ensemble. Ensemble placement will be determined by an audition process designed and administered by the ensemble directors in consultation with the applied faculty and as approved by the Director of the School of Music.
                                                                
Students need 7 successful semesters of applied study on their primary instrument plus a capstone recital on their primary instrument. In addition, students must complete 4 semesters of secondary instrument student with a successful jury for advancement into the MUS 382 level. The secondary instrument may be selected for those approved by the instrumental music education faculty.

A grade of C or above is required for ALL music classes to be admitted to the College of Education for student teaching.

Complete 16 courses. To be eligible to take the MEAR exam, a grade of C or higher in required in MUS 250.

Complete 2 units in major instrument in 1 semester.

Music Education Major Graduation Requirements
Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
A minimum of 86 units must be completed in the major.
AND
A minimum 3.0 GPA in the major and professional coursework is required for graduation.
AND
A minimum of 18 units of upper-division major coursework must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona.
A minor is optional for this major. Consult with your advisor to select a minor or discuss other options such as selecting a second major.
Admission to the major requires acceptance of an application reviewed by the Music Education faculty, and an audition for acceptance to a lesson studio. Application requirements are available at the School of Music website.
