Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a firm understanding of physiological mechanisms underlying neuronal communication and cognitive mechanisms underlying thought and behavior. (Basic Knowledge)
- Demonstrate a firm understanding of the theories and fundamental principles of system neuroscience (NS track) and cognitive science (CS track) across various circuits, systems, and behavior as well as utilize computational models of human learning & decision making. (Advanced Knowledge).
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically about complex problems involving the brain and mind, develop the capacity to critically evaluate the scientific literature, identify open questions and problems, and develop the capacity to adequately communicate concepts and research results to professionals and to the public. (Critical Thinking, Scientific Reasoning and Communication Skills)
- Apply ethical and professional standards for the practice of research (Ethics).
