Program Description

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is designed to develop diverse, critical thinking physical therapists. This is achieved through a comprehensive 3-year curriculum that integrates community service and early clinical experiences within a unique program that promotes active and experiential learning concepts. The program emphasizes humanistic personal attributes, and evidence informed practice, and is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, community awareness, and ethical professionalism. The program will develop master adaptive learners with a sound understanding of the psychosocial and human side of the profession.

Learning Outcomes

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Demonstrate an understanding of the human body, through the lifespan, and identify normal, pathological or injury induced states to select and appropriately apply physical therapy interventions.
- Comprehend and identify the impact of social determinants of health, health literacy, diversity, equity, inclusion, and other societal issues that influence the provision of healthcare.
- Collaborative practitioners, comfortable working in collaboration with all members of the healthcare team to achieve optimum outcomes for their clients.
- Critical consumers of the literature to integrate best practices and construct appropriate research questions to advance the knowledge of the profession.
- Analyze and demonstrate traits of the master adaptive and lifelong learner essential to the future needs of the profession.
