Students enter the Ph.D. program, which begins with an M.A. The School of Sociology does not offer a terminal M.A. The master's program in Sociology is the foundation for advanced training as a sociologist in academia, government, business and community agencies. The master's degree requirements include both coursework - Social Statistics, Sociological Theory - and experience conducting original research. After completing the master's degree requirements, students enter the Ph.D. track.
