Program Description

In the Classics program, you can pursue an emphasis in Ancient History, Classical Archaeology, Classical Philology (i.e., the study of Greek and Latin languages and literatures), Ancient Religion, or Latin Philology and Pedagogy. This degree provides foundational knowledge in the languages or material culture of antiquity, or both, and prepares you to enter a doctoral program in classical studies. Alternatively, the M.A. in Classics prepares recipients to teach at the community college level, in K-12 private and charter schools or in the public school system (K-12) - when accompanied by state certification. Coursework offers study in a broad range of cultures and regions, as well as possible independent studies.
