The MS degree requires 35 units, which comprises 29 nonthesis (core) units and 6 thesis units. Refer to the program website for specific course requirements. The MS thesis focuses on the student’s research project under the supervision of their selected faculty advisor/mentor. Students typically complete a minimum of 9 units of core coursework during fall and spring semesters of their first year (18 units), and complete the remaining units during their second year.
